An accomplished Leader, Mr Vineet Nayyar has led several organizations across industries, creating high performance teams and successful businesses. In a career spanning more than 5 decades, he has worked with the Government of India, International Multilateral Agencies and in the Corporate Sector (both Public & Private). Vineet started his career with the Indian Administrative Service and held a series of senior positions, including that of a District Magistrate, Secretary (Agriculture & Rural Development) for the Government of Haryana and the Director with the Department of Economic Affairs, Government of India. He also worked with The World Bank for over 10 years in a series of senior assignments including successive terms as the Chief of the Energy, Infrastructure and the Finance Divisions for East Asia and Pacific.

Mr. Nayyar, was the Vice Chairman of Tech Mahindra Ltd and played a leadership role in its growth and transformation including the revival of Satyam Computer Services Limited. He was also the founding Chairman & Managing Director of the State-owned Gas Authority of India Limited, a Public Sector Undertaking and has also served as the Managing Director of HCL Corporation Ltd. He also has served as the Vice Chairman of HCL Technologies Ltd besides the Chief Executive Officer of HCL Perot Systems. He has also served as an Independent Director in ONGC, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. and Greatship India Ltd.

Mr Nayyar’s principal Directorships include his serving as a Director on the Boards of Mahindra United World College of India, The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited and Vidya Education Investments Pvt Ltd. Mr Nayyar is also the Chairman of Essel Social Welfare Foundation (formerly-HPS Social Welfare Foundation) where he has contributed significantly for philanthropic activities. He is currently the Director of Tech Mahindra Foundation, which work extensively on the vision of ‘Empowerment through Education’ and also the Chairman of the Mahindra Educational Institutions, which manages and runs the Mahindra University, Hyderabad. He also serves as a Trustee of Vidya Education Foundation and the Pro-Vice Chairman of the Delhi Public School, Gautam Buddh Nagar. Mr Nayyar also worked as the Vice Chairman & Managing Director of Infrastructure Leasing & Financial Services (IL&FS) as well as the Directors on its various subsidiaries.

Mr Nayyar has been awarded the Ernst and Young ‘Entrepreneur of the Year [Manager] for the year 2013 and was recognized as India’s Best CEO at the 4th edition of Business Today Best CEO Awards in the year 2015. He has been honoured with “Lifetime Achievement Award” at the Financial Express IT Awards 2018.
