At Sterlite Copper we are manufacturing copper rod. There are 25+ critical/single line equipments in copper rod manufacturing unit. CBM(condition Based Monitoring) practice are already in practice to avoid the major failure/equipment breakdown. Vibration levels of the equipments are being monitored with a frequency of one month and actions are taking based on the CBM report recommendations. Since the frequency of health checking is one month, sometimes the equipments are going for unplanned shutdown/major failure.

Solution Implemented

To overcome the above issue, we have Introduced the IOT based smart sensors to monitor the vibration level on 24x7 basis and we could able get the real time alert and recommendations from the cloud based system.

Impact observed

Sudden equipment failures are avoided; precaution steps are being taken at very initial stage to avoid the major equipments failures/unplanned plant outages
